- Welcome -

On behalf of the staff of GLOBE-Africa I would like to welcome all educators joining our educational conference in Arusha, our Xpedition Team members who will be attempting to Summit Mt. Kilimanjaro as well as our friends following via the internet around the world.
We are very excited to be the center of this scientific inquiry and to be able to share the beauty of Africa, specifically the unique beauty of Tanzania and Mt. Kilimanjaro with you.

Regional Director – GLOBE Africa

On behalf of the Seasons and Biomes Earth System Science Project team, we welcome you students and teachers on the expedition to Mt Kilimanjaro and those participating in your classrooms around the world. Our goal in Seasons and Biomes is to engage students in studying changes in seasonal indicators in their local environments that may give clues to climate change in their biomes. By conducting investigations on your schoolyards and connecting with students in other biomes, we think that you will broaden your understanding of what is happening in your locale and in other parts of the world as well as learn about other cultures.  Enjoy the expedition and we encourage your continued participation in Seasons and Biomes.

Principal Investigator, GLOBE Seasons and Biomes Project

Hello Kilimanjaro Trekkers! Everyone here at the GLOBE Program Office is excited for you starting off on your adventure. In particular, I am anxiously awaiting to hear about your experience and the information you learned about the biomes of the mountain. I believe your expedition is the perfect example of the types of events and investigations integral to the GLOBE Student Research Campaign. Happy hiking!

Coordinator, GLOBE Student Climate Research Campaign

Jambo, Welcome to the Xpedition !!! I am very excited to have each of you join us on this Amazing Journey to the Roof of Africa. I hope that through this web site you will feel part of this expedition and will take pride in the accomplishments of these young scientist and explorers. Please take a few minutes to explore this site which will be your window to East Africa and Kilimanjaro. Along the way I hope we can each Dream Big, learn a little about ourselves and find out how we can make a difference in the conservation and protection of our natural resources. Little actions make a big difference.
